James Govan – I'm In Need（Charly R&B – CRB 1162）

本作は、James Govanにとって初のフル・アルバムになります。リリースは1987年。5月３日のユニオンGWセールで入手しました。CDしか持っていなかったので嬉しい収穫です。録音は、1982年、AlabamaのBroadway Sound Studio（旧QUINVY）。当時は契約レーベルが見つからず、長らく未発表の状態でした。その後、1984年に以前ご紹介した「Uphill Climb / Jealous KindEnvelope Records, Inc. – NV-7002）」がシングルとして先行発売されるものの、商業的成功は得られず、最終的に1987年になって英国のCharly Records傘下、Charly R&Bがリリースすることになりました。Govanは1960年代からFame Studiosなどで活動。1969年には「 Wanted: Lover (No Experience Necessary)」のような名曲も発表しています。とはいえ、アルバム制作には至らず、本作が唯一となります。なお、後年には1960年代の未発表音源をまとめた『Wanted: The Fame Recordings』（2013年）もリリースされました。なお、Dan Pennの「You Left The Water Running」は再録になります。
